Frequently Asked Questions About Somatic Therapy for Tech Professionals
Who do you work with?
Many of my clients work in tech and come in around burnout, overwork, and the toll the industry takes on the body. I also work with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and relationship or family conflict. See my About page for more on how I work with each.
Do you work with people outside of tech?
Soma Nexa is focused on tech professionals specifically. If that's not you, I also work with a wider range of clients through my broader practice, Shin Shin Wellness.
What's the difference between somatic therapy and typical talk therapy?
Talk therapy works mostly through language and insight. Somatic therapy adds attention to the body: tension, breath, posture, movement. Stress and old patterns often live there as much as in your thoughts. We'll still talk, and we'll also notice what's happening in your body as we do.
Is this in-person or virtual?
Both. Sessions are in-person in Longmont or virtual by video. Virtual clients must be located in Colorado at the time of session.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start weekly, then settle into a cadence that works around on-call weeks and crunch time.
Do you take insurance?
I don't bill insurance directly, but I can provide a super-bill for you to submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Full pricing is on the Services page.
What's your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations and no-shows are billed at the full session rate.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes, with the limits required by law (for example, risk of harm to yourself or others). Note that a super-bill submitted for reimbursement shares your diagnosis with your insurer, and confidentiality can't be guaranteed once it leaves my office. See the Privacy Policy for full HIPAA detail.
